The Spiritual Essence

This circuit is unique because it balances the "Shaivite" (Shiva) and "Vaishnavite" (Vishnu) traditions. You will visit the abode where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati reside together, the dense forests where Lord Narasimha manifested in nine forms, and caves where sages have meditated for centuries.

Detailed Itinerary & Highlights

Day 1: The Abode of the Jyotirlinga (Srisailam)

  • Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple: One of the only places in the world where a Jyotirlinga (Lord Shiva) and a Maha Shakti Peetha (Goddess Bhramaramba) are found in the same complex.

  • The Experience: Perched on the Nallamala Hills overlooking the Krishna River, the temple features 6th-century architecture. Don’t miss the Pathala Ganga (a holy dip in the river reachable by ropeway) and the Srisailam Dam.

Day 2: The Sacred Waters & The Lion Lord (Mahanandi & Ahobilam)

  • Mahanandi Temple: Famous for its world-class Pushkarini (water tank). The water here is crystal clear—you can see a needle at the bottom—and flows at a constant temperature year-round. It is believed to originate from the roots of a 1,500-year-old Banyan tree.

  • Journey to Ahobilam: Travel into the deep forests of the Nallamala range, the site where Lord Vishnu took the Narasimha avatar to protect Prahlada.

Day 3: The Nine Narasimhas (Ahobilam Exploration)

  • Nava Narasimha Kshetra: Ahobilam is split into Lower and Upper Ahobilam.

  • The Trek: For the spiritually adventurous, a trek through the forest leads to the Upper Ahobilam temple, built inside a natural cave. You can visit all nine forms of Narasimha, each located in a different scenic part of the hills.

Day 4: The Growing Nandi & Subterranean Wonders (Yaganti & Belum)

  • Yaganti Uma Maheswara: Home to the famous Growing Nandi. Scientific studies by the ASI have confirmed the stone is naturally expanding. It is also one of the few temples where the deity is Ardhanareeswara (half-Shiva, half-Parvati) carved from a single stone.

  • The Caves of Yaganti: Visit the Agastya Cave (where the sage did penance) and the Venkateswara Cave located right next to the main shrine.

  • Belum Caves: Conclude your trip at the largest and longest cave system open to the public in India. Walking through these underground passages with their stalactite and stalagmite formations feels like stepping onto another planet.
